Use Opacus

Deposits

Money comes into your private balance from your wallet, in the one step that the whole world can see.

How to deposit

Choose Deposit under your balance, pick the asset, type an amount and approve it in your wallet. The app makes the deposit's proof on your device, your wallet signs the transaction, and a few seconds later the money is in your private balance.

On the testnet, set your wallet to devnet first: a wallet on Solana's main network may warn about the deposit or refuse it. The Quickstart says how.

What is public

A deposit is an ordinary Solana transaction signed by your wallet, so anyone can read:

  • the wallet the money came from;
  • the asset and the amount;
  • the time.

What happens to the money afterwards is not public. Inside the pool your deposit becomes a note that only your account can spend, and nothing ties your later payments to it.

What it costs

Opacus charges nothing for a deposit. Your wallet pays Solana's network fee and a little rent for the records the pool keeps of spent notes: about 0.002 SOL in all.

Keep your deposits hard to follow

A deposit's amount and time are public, so they can be matched to what comes after them:

  • Deposit round amounts, like 100 or 250, rather than 137.42. Many people deposit round amounts, so a round one says less.
  • Let time pass between a deposit and a cash-out or a swap of the same amount. A deposit of 250 followed a minute later by a cash-out of 250 is easy to pair.
  • Cash out to a new wallet, not to the one you deposited from.

The app points it out when a swap or a short name's claim follows a deposit closely enough to be tied to it.
