The testnet
Opacus runs on Solana devnet with test money that is worth nothing. Everything works as it will, free to try.
What it is
The testnet is Opacus as it works today, on Solana devnet: the network Solana keeps for testing, where tokens have no value. The pool, the app at app.opacus.tech and Opacus's services run there exactly as they will on Solana's main network, with test money in place of real money.
Nothing you do on the testnet touches your real tokens. Your wallet keeps them on Solana's main network; on devnet it holds only test money.
What the pool holds
| Asset | What it is |
|---|---|
| SOL | devnet SOL, Solana's own test coin |
| tUSD | Opacus's test dollar, made for the testnet, worth nothing |
The test dollar's mint is 5GDvo7t4Urnv68dc8JWQ6Daxgg8p61Nf7o1RcGWENx7G.
Test money
In the app, a new account shows Get test funds. Once a day, each wallet gets:
- 1,000 tUSD, to deposit and try everything with;
- 0.02 SOL, when the wallet has less than 0.01 SOL, for the network's fees and a deposit's rent.
Devnet SOL is scarce, so a connection can fill a few wallets a day, and the testnet gives out only so much SOL in an hour, for everyone together.
Fees
| Move | Fee on the testnet |
|---|---|
| A payment inside the pool | free |
| A payment link claimed into a balance | free |
| A deposit | none to Opacus; your wallet pays the network about 0.002 SOL |
| A cash-out, or a link claimed out to a wallet | 0.001 SOL, or 0.1 tUSD |
| A swap | 0.001 SOL, or 0.1 tUSD, and the market's own fee |
| A short name | 0.002 SOL, or 0.3 tUSD, once |
Every fee is shown before you confirm. The fees of Solana's main network are not set yet.
Daily limits
The relayer, the Opacus service that sends your transactions, bounds what one connection can do in a day, so nobody can use up the testnet for everyone:
| What | A connection, a day |
|---|---|
| Free payments inside the pool | 60 |
| Cash-outs | 15 |
| Swaps | 15 |
| Short names claimed | 5 |
| Requests, of every kind | 30 a minute |
A move refused by a limit says so, and nothing is spent. A list of payments stopped by a limit goes on the next day from where it stopped.
Good to know
- The testnet is for trying Opacus. It is not audited, and its proofs use development keys. See Security and status.
- It may be reset. A new version of the pool can mean a fresh start, and test balances do not carry over.
- The swap market is small. The pool's SOL and tUSD market opened with 5 SOL and 750 tUSD, so a swap of 10 tUSD moves its price by about 1.3%; anyone on devnet may trade it too, and its price drifts.
