Use Opacus

Payment links and gifts

Send money as a link that anyone can open, into their own balance or out to any wallet; or one link that several people each take a share of.

A payment link holds money. Choose Send, then As a link, pick the asset and the amount, add a note if you like, and choose Create the link. Copy it and send it any way you like: a message, an email, a QR code.

You do not need the other person's address, and they do not need an Opacus account yet. The link is the money: whoever opens it first can claim it. Share it only with the person it is for, as you would hand over cash.

The secret part of the link comes after its #. Browsers never send that part to a server, and the claim page passes nothing on to other sites.

Whoever opens the link sees the amount, the asset and your note, and chooses:

  • Add it to my Opacus balance: a payment inside the pool, free. They connect a wallet and open their account first, if they have none yet.
  • Send it to a Solana wallet: out to any wallet, with no account at all. This is a cash-out: the wallet receives the amount less a small fee, and the wallet and the amount are public.

A link can be claimed once. Your history shows it as waiting until then, and claimed after.

Changed your mind, or nobody claimed it? In your history, choose Take back beside a waiting link. The link stops working and its money comes back to your private balance. You can find and take back your links on any device: the app finds them in the pool from your account alone.

A gift is one link that several people each take a share of: a thank-you to a team, a prize for a community, a round of drinks. Choose Pay many people, then A gift link. Type what each person gets and for how many people (2 to 50), add a note everyone sees, and the app makes a share for each, one after another, a few seconds each.

Whoever opens the gift takes the next share nobody has taken yet, into their balance or out to any wallet. One account takes one share; a browser that sent a share to a wallet is held to one too. Your history shows the gift as one line: how many shares were taken, and Take back the rest for the shares left.

A gift is for people you trust with the link. Someone with many accounts and many browsers could take more than one share, as anyone with a payment link can claim it.

What is public

Creating a link or a gift is a payment inside the pool: nobody sees its amount or who made it. A claim into a balance is private too. A claim out to a wallet is a public cash-out: that wallet and the amount, never who sent the link.
